Keum-boo is an ancient Asian technique of bonding 24kt gold and fine silver. The beautiful combination of pure gold and pure silver is achieved not by melting but actually by the diffusion of the two metals. When 24kt gold and fine silver are heated to an exact temperature, the atoms of the metals interchange with each other, creating a permanent, lasting bond.

I first roller print the design in fine silver which also work hardens the metal. The rich gold leaf patterns are then applied to the design. I then add more detail by hand engraving areas. I recently started combining different colored golds of yellow, green, and rose, which creates a beautiful, interesting effect.

18kt yellow gold bi-metal is an actual sheet of 18kt gold permanently bonded by heat and pressure to sterling silver. The bracelet edges and diamond settings are 18kt gold.
